Your Union has presented Australia Post with a fair EBA7 proposal that advances claims to protect your job security, safety at work and take-home pay.
Last week, Australia Post spent truckloads of capital on high-priced lawyers to shut down members overwhelming voting intentions for supporting protected industrial action given the Union campaign escalating to another level for reaching a new EBA7.
After assessing our legal options, we have presented Post management with an EBA7 proposal that resolves member concerns in the workplace.
- If Australia Post cares at all about your security, safety and pay they will accept this EBA7 proposal.
Over the weekend, hundreds of members across Sydney attended briefings to show their support for the campaign and the EBA7 proposal we are putting to Post on your behalf. It was a terrific signal from members who are telling management they demand to see a better EBA offer.
As has been the case since the current EBA6 expired, your CEPU negotiators are ready to talk again NOW:
On presenting Australia Post with our EBA7 proposal, we’ve informed management that we are prepared to continue negotiations straight away – and we have called for a response from Post to our offer to meet within the next 24 hours.
Australia Post used their high-priced lawyers to amazingly argue that we haven’t been genuinely bargaining, even though we have been negotiating prior to the current EBA6 expiring on 31 December 2006.
Last weeks old spin to employees via an SIB from Post’s HR Chief Rod McDonald, quote;
“you should urge the CEPU leadership to get back to the bargaining table and do what they should have been doing all along – genuinely trying to reach an agreement with Australia Post”
Today’s current spin by the same Rod McDonald is that Post are not in a position to decide whether they will enter into discussions with the Union on your EBA7 proposal and will notify their final position to the Union no earlier than close of business this coming Friday (18 September).
Next weeks new spin by Rod McDonald just won’t wash anymore, as actions speak louder than words as members across the country are making the judgement of Post’s sincerity on every minute of every day that passes – without reaching a new EBA7.
If Post is genuine about its desire to negotiate and reach a new EBA7 then they have a chance to prove their sincerity with their employees and the Union without any further spin or excuse.
