As part of its commitment to reducing its environmental impact, Australia Post has been trialling an environmental driver awareness program, known as E-Drive.
The program aims to raise awareness and provide training and tools to improve key driver behaviours impacting on greenhouse gas emissions and fuel efficiency by influencing the way drivers think about the environment and their driving habits.
The trial was delivered to 49 drivers in two States. According to Australia Post the outcome of the trail has been a sustained change in driver behaviours that has resulted in a decrease in gas emissions.
As a result Australia Post intends to implement the E-Drive across the heavy vehicle transport fleet. The roll out is anticipated to commence shortly for completion prior to March 2011.
The CEPU would be interested in hearing from drivers about their overall acceptance or otherwise of the program.
