Let us know what’s happening in your region – we’re fighting Telstra’s non-genuine redundancies

Last week saw one of the biggest network outages to ever hit Telstra – leaving businesses stranded without EFTPOS, the public without access to ATMs, and almost 800 criminals walking free with electronic monitoring bracelets failing for more than 24 hours. Most concerningly, this outage comes on the back of Telstra’s mass sacking of hundreds of skilled workers across the country.

It is now abundantly clear that Andy Penn-ypincher and his multi-million dollar executive MOB are running Telstra in to the ground. Telstra are embarking on one of the biggest job slashing exercises ever seen in Australian corporate history and what was once a national icon is quickly becoming a national disgrace.

Last week’s retrenchment announcement has quickly been received as a slap in the face to members who claim trainees and contractors have been undertaking duties in their regions – all whilst Telstra claims the sackings are due to a lack of work.

Andy and his gang of corporate thieves are lining their own pockets at the expense of services, public safety and your ability to put food on your family’s dinner table. And we’re going to fight them.

Based on the concerns raised by members, we’re currently considering all options available to prevent Telstra from moving forward with redundancies that members claim are not genuine.

To do that, we need your help.

Please complete our very short survey to tell us where you work and what trainee and contractor activity is taking place in your region. It will take less than a minute to complete and will provide us with valuable information to assess your work region’s particulars with our legal representatives. Your personally identifiable information will not be shared with Telstra or any other third party.

We ask that you please complete this survey by no later than next Monday, 12 November.

In the meantime, if you require any further information please contact Branch Officials Peter O’Connell or James Perkins on (02) 9893 7822.

Yours faithfully,

SHANE MURPHY
BRANCH SECRETARY
