It has been brought to the Union’s attention that an increasing number of new PDOs and existing permanent part time PDOs converting to full time employment are not being employed against the normal ordinary hours of duty as determined by the Australia Post Operations Award.
It has been reported to the Union that these employees are rostered on 7’21 hours per day as their ordinary hours of duty. The Award clearly provides that the ordinary hours of duty of Postal Delivery Employees will be 36.75 hours per week to be worked eight hours on Monday, seven hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then 7.75 hours on Friday. Where operational requirements necessitate the working of an eight hour or 7.75 hour day regularly on any day other than Monday or Friday respectively, that day may be substituted for the Monday or Friday.
The above report is of serious concern and the Union has written to Australia Post seeking undertakings for this breach of the Award to cease by incompetent management representatives.
Any member who thinks that they may be affected by this issue should contact their allocated Branch Official or the CEPU State Office immediately on (02) 9893 7822.
