Work drying up at Service Stream: Plan going forward

Service Stream subbies have recently raised the lack of work available at Service Stream I&M across NSW with the Union.

Subcontractors have reported that they are lucky to receive 2 work tickets per day. Others are receiving none.

Although unfortunate, the lack of work at Service Stream is due to the unavoidable current situation of low work volumes across Telstra.

Discussion have been held between the CEPU and Service Stream management to discuss the possibility of a rostering system that will ensure subbies have 4 – 6, or possibly more, jobs per rostered day.

Feedback from members so far suggests such a rostering will assist subcontractors limit the cost to their business during downtimes, whilst also providing the opportunity to seek other work on the days they are not rostered to Service Stream.

The implementation of any roster system will NOT proceed until ALL subcontractors are canvassed for their views and suggestions.

If adopted by subcontractors the roster will take effect within the next fortnight.

Service Stream are currently in the process of communicating with their subcontractors to seek their views regarding the proposed roster system. This information will be shared with the Union to formulate an implementation plan going forward.
