Australia Post FWA: Vote yes to secure your rights and conditions

CEPU members employed by Australia Post should by now have received a voting paper from the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) to return a vote for the proposed Australia Post Fair Work Agreement 2010 (APFWA).

 The proposed APFWA is the culmination of a 4 year long campaign that included sacrifices being made by thousands of union members when taking protected industrial action across Australia late last year.

 Thanks to the hard work and determination of members like you, we now have an agreement that your union is proud to recommend to members. This is an agreement that your union is confident will deliver on key issues, such as protecting your security, safety and pay.

 As from 22 September all employees covered by the APFWA will receive a voting paper from the AEC. It is a legal requirement for over 50% of employees to VOTE YES for the APFWA to be put in place and for your rights at work to be protected by it.

 Australia Post members have been waiting far too long for a genuine fair agreement to protect their rights at work – that is why we are asking members to vote;

  • YES – for an agreement that delivers pay increases of up to 10%. This amount builds on pay increases of 12% already received since the expiry of EBA6.
  • YES – for an agreement that recognises and protects shift penalties as an important part of take home pay.
  • YES – for an agreement that commits to developing a new work model that provides for a greater proportion of Australia Post employees to have access to additional pay in working full-time.
  • YES – for an agreement that ends a bad practice of using Facility Nominated Doctors to return sick and injured workers back to work prematurely before they are fit-for-duty.

As you can see this new APFWA covering all Australia Post award workers was only possible by union members like you across Australia, advancing their claims for reaching a genuine fair agreement for protecting security – safety – pay.

 This is a significant milestone by all Australia Post union members who are commended for a job well done.
