Posties NOT “Fat, Lazy”

Members have reacted to the attached article published in the Herald Sun newspaper on 28 September 2011.

In this article, CEPU Victorian Branch Secretary Joan Doyle is quoted saying:

“A lot of posties have become fat and lazy and have beer guts.”

The description of CEPU Posties is NOT reflective to that of your union and is NOT supported by the CEPU NSW Branch Officers and staff, local union representatives or the wider membership.

We consider this offensive slur against CEPU Posties by the Victorian Branch Secretary Joan Doyle to be outrageous and inappropriate.

Your NSW Branch Secretary Jim Metcher has yesterday written to the CEPU Divisional Secretary Dan Dwyer to intervene in this matter and to urge the Victorian Branch Secretary Joan Doyle to withdraw her public statement and to issue an apology immediately to all CEPU Posties.

At the time of this workplace circular being issued, nothing has been forthcoming from the Divisional Secretary Dan Dwyer let alone the Victorian Branch Secretary Joan Doyle.
