Australia Post and your Union have been negotiating a new EBA8 since March this year. Between March and now, a number of offers to finalise the Agreement have been made to your Union and shared with employees however, they fell short of delivering for our members.

Your Union has continued to press for the issues that you told us were important to you in your EBA8 survey and Australia Post has finally listened. Today, Post made their final offer and your Union is confident that this offer delivers on all those important issues.

Post’s final EBA8 offer to employees

An unconditional, guaranteed, no strings attached pay rise totalling 10.5%

  • Members told us they needed a guaranteed pay rise without any conditions that kept up with inflation
  • Post listened to your Union and has removed both profit and service performance conditions on the wage offer
  • Post has also agreed to bring forward portions of the pay rise, including the 1.5% already due this December, to enable CEPU members to receive increases to their wages and all other entitlements including Super, earlier
Aug 2013 > 0.5% pay rise Dec 2013 > 1% pay rise
Aug 2014 > 0.5% pay rise Dec 2014 > 2.5% pay rise
Aug 2015 > 0.5% pay rise Dec 2015 > 2.5% pay rise
Aug 2016 > 0.5% pay rise Dec 2016 > 2.5% pay rise

Reward and recognition – “Back-to-Back Agreement” Bonus

  • Members told us they wanted a reward and recognition for their sacrifices and achievements over the past 3 years

  • In addition to the total wage outcomes, Australia Post will pay $500 to full-time employees and $250 to part-time employees as a one off ” Back-to-Back Agreement” bonus if the EBA8 offer is accepted which will enable a “back-to-back” Agreement

Protecting Superannuation

  • Members told us their Superannuation was important to them and reacted overwhelmingly against Australia Post’s proposal to freeze defined benefit scheme members’ Final Average Salary (FAS)

  • Post has removed the proposed APSS FAS freeze meaning the entire pay rise will flow into your Superannuation

  • This EBA8 offer also protects the APSS defined benefit arrangements for all members for the duration of the Agreement

Protection of all your current conditions and entitlements without trade-offs

  • Members were very clear that they weren’t prepared to trade off any of their conditions or entitlements contained in the current EBA7. These are the same conditions members took action to protect in 2009

  • Post’s offer is to roll-over the current Agreement with a nominal expiry date of 31 Dec 2016

  • Post’s offer retains all of your conditions and entitlements including job security, shift penalty rates and RRR

     ———————————————————————————-

The EBA8 offer provides the security and certainty CEPU members deserve and have worked hard to achieve.

EBA7 has provided the protection to members for the past 3 years from the mass job losses that have been seen in other iconic businesses such as Telstra, Qantas and Ford manufacturing over this period. This new EBA8 offer which secures all your current conditions and entitlements will ensure that our members and their families retain the protections from these forces that continue to put pressure on Australia Post’s core business.

Importantly, this Agreement will protect members from the introduction of any contemplated anti-worker industrial laws which may be introduced should there be a change of Government following September’s federal election.

It is for these reasons that your Union is encouraging members to VOTE YES when you receive your ballot papers.
