Recall of Honda NBC110 Motorcycle

On the 11th September 2013 Australia Post’s General Manager National Delivery Network advised the CEPU of the following;

Honda Australia have informed Australia Post that they may have an issue with the fuel pump mechanism on the NBC llO motorcycle. Australia Post has made the decision to withdraw the use of NBC llOs in operations from close of business today. This is based on our commitment to safety and not to expose our staff to any potential injury. Prior to a return to service all NBC llOs will be thoroughly examined by qualified mechanics and replacement fuel pumps fitted if necessary. Australia Post is currently working with state operations to utilise the existing fleet of CT llOs, EAMBs and AMBs to cover the short term withdrawal of the NBC llO.

The State Branch has confirmed with NSW/ACT Senior Delivery Management that approximately 260 NBC 110 motorcycles will be temporarily out of service pending replacement of the faulty fuel pump within the NSW/ACT delivery operations area. The replacement of the faulty fuel pumps will be actioned as soon as possible.

Delivery members are advised that no member currently performing delivery duties by motorcycle are compelled to perform delivery duties by a different mode of delivery, such as walking, riding an AMB or riding an EAMB on a delivery round.

Should any Delivery member experience any pressure to perform their delivery duties in an unreasonable manner during this period of time the Delivery member is to contact this Office immediately
