THE LEVEL OF OVERPAYMENT AND UNDERPAYMENTS ARE ALARMING – SAYS NSW UNION
The issue of Australia Post payroll irregularities is at a serious level and has surfaced again across the nation.
The NSW Branch of your union has recently intervened in this matter with Australia Post at the National Level and has resulted in discussions occurring between the NSW Branch Secretary Jim Metcher and National Management Representatives of Australia Post representing Employee Relations, Human Resources, and the Shared Services Division.
NSW Branch Secretary Jim Metcher said: “the discussions held recently with Australia Post in an attempt to secure a resolution in fixing the alarming level of payroll irregularities have been constructive but have not resulted in any way of addressing all the payroll irregularity concerns of union members employed within Australia Post.
The level of overpayments and more so underpayments of employee wages on a fortnightly basis are seriously disturbing and just cannot continue. Australia Post have been told to get their act together in fixing the payroll irregularities or face litigation by the union, said Mr Metcher. ”
INCORRECT PAYG TAXATION SUMMARY STATEMENTS BEING ISSUED TO EMPLOYEES
To add insult to an already alarming payroll irregularity problem within Australia Post is where union members over the past week are now reporting instances of their PAYG taxation summary statement being received and not reflecting gross earnings that appear on the payslip for the corresponding end of financial year period.
UNION MEMBER ALERT – REPORT ALL PAYROLL IRREGULARITIES TO YOUR UNION
The union is issuing an important alert to all Australia Post union members to check their PAYG Taxation Summary Statement along with the earnings displayed on their payslip on a fortnightly basis to ensure they are being paid correctly and to report any payroll irregularity to the union.
Members are encouraged to download and complete an ‘Australia Post Payroll Irregularity’ form by clicking here and forwarding this form along with a copy of their payslip / PAYG taxation summary of earnings to the Union by faxing to: (02) 9893 7396.
