It is with deep regret and sadness that I inform members of the fatal tragedy that has occurred yesterday involving the accidental death of a motorcycle Postie from the Mitchell Delivery Facility in the ACT.
The name of the postie is Mark McGregor who has been employed with Australia Post since around 2000.
We are advised Mark is survived by his wife and two children.
We pass on our deepest sympathy and condolences to Mark’s family and friends during this very difficult time and offer all the necessary support accordingly.
ACT authorities are continuing with their enquiries and investigation into the accident. Australia Post likewise is undertaking their own internal investigation into this accident in consultation with the union.
Australia Post has made arrangements for counselling services to be available for the family, friends and fellow work colleagues of Mark.
Difficult times like these serve as an important reminder to us all that our health, safety and well being at or outside of work – needs to be treated with the utmost priority.
