Over the past few days, members operating electric delivery vehicles (eDVs) have raised concerns with a noise that has begun emanating from the vehicle while it is operating.
Following representations by your Union to management earlier this week, Kyburz, the manufacturer of Australia Post’s eDV fleet, have now identified the cause of the sound as a lubrication issue with the vehicle’s suspension.
Kyburz will be releasing a mechanical update to all their repair and service agents this coming Monday, 2 March, alerting them to the defect and explaining how to rectify the cause, and to prevent it going forward.
If you ride an eDV and your vehicle begins to emanate sounds like this, members should follow the below agreed process:
- Alert your team leader and return to the workplace if safe to do so.
- If you feel it is unsafe to continue to operate the vehicle, call your team leader to have the vehicle collected.
- Use PT35 to raise your concerns with the noise coming from the vehicle.
- Make yourself available to complete your duties using a different vehicle.
If spare vehicles are unavailable, make yourself available for reasonable alternate duties.
