The last time we wrote to members regarding the progress of EBA11 negotiations, we were pleased to announce that Australia Post was working through our log of claims and had agreed, in principal, that any new EBA at Australia Post would retain the Retraining, Redeployment and Redundancy (RRR) Agreement.
This week, in person negotiations between Australia Post and your National and State Branch leadership teams continued, narrowing on key issues.
Importantly, fruitful discussions have ensued on matters of compliance, to ensure any new Agreement aligns with updates to relevant legislation – and ensuring workers are not trading-off conditions to do so. Both parties have committed to continue to work through these important matters with priority.
Significant progress has also been made with matters of serious contention for the Union, particularly those related to the offering of full-time employment to long-term part-time employees, penalty rates, dispute resolution procedures and matters surrounding our members’ access to sick leave, long service leave and parental leave benefits and entitlements.
Although there is still some way to go to reach agreement on a whole, talks are progressing well and in good faith. With scheduled regular in-person discussions recommencing, we are hopeful of wrapping up this process sooner rather than later.
We’ll keep you up to date as the process continues.
In the meantime, should you require any further information, please contact Assistant Secretaries Cameron Bird, Peter Chaloner or Nick Townsend, or Branch Officials Cade Anderson, Lisa Bahls, Nick Bentley, Chris Gleeson, Phil Kessey, TK Ly, Robbie McLauchlan, Kyle Murphy, Liam Murphy, Peter O’Connell, Brett O’Neill, Peter Psomas, Giselle Saba, Kerry Turner or Dennis Williams on (02) 9893 7822 when calling from NSW or the ACT, (07) 3255 0440 from QLD or (08) 8443 7389 from SA or the NT.
