Your Union wrote to you very early this year to communicate  an agreement between the CEPU and Australia Post to resolve the dispute surrounding the reintroduction of common counter arrangements in retail.

The terms of the agreement reached in January is reproduced here for the benefit of members:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Permanent arrangements
  • Trainee employees to be excluded from common counter arrangements until the end of their probationary employment term
  • Casual employees based in metropolitan areas will be excluded from common counter
Transitional arrangements
  • The CEPU will be advised prior to the Employee Counselling and Disciplinary Process being initiated against an employee for a matter related to the operation of a common counter at the warning counselling level and higher
  • That the Australia Post management representative who advises the CEPU official of the impending ECDP action against an employee will be a management representative that has decision making authority
The above transitional arrangements will apply for an initial four month period. The CEPU and Australia Post will both jointly review and assess the outcome of these arrangements again on8 April 2013.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The CEPU can confirm that only one incident of a member being subject to the ECDP in relation to common counter has taken place between January and now. This is a good outcome that is the result of the above sensible agreed arrangements. As such, during their meeting with management this week, CEPU Official Nathan Metcher and Rozelle Post OfficePSO& CEPU NSW/ACT Committee of Management member Maureen Morris has advocated for the continuation of the arrangements, to which management have agreed.

Therefore, members are advised that the above transitional arrangements will continue to apply pending a further joint CEPU & Australia Post review to occur some time in July.

Members will be advised of any change to these arrangements.
