New FBA payments to be introduced and back-paid to SPDO2 Reliefs

The increase in workload within the SPDO2 Relief designation has been a sore point for members for quite some time. The issue has been exacerbated by ongoing staffing issues across the network.

The Union has continued to seek additional payments for SPDO2s experiencing increased workloads, holding a number of discussions over recent months with Australia Post at the national level.

Those discussions have now concluded, and I’m pleased to advise that agreement has been reached with Australia Post to introduce a new additional FBA payment that will apply to all SPDO2 Reliefs.

This agreement will see SPDO2 Reliefs paid a FBA payment where they are performing rounds with mail not delivered from the previous day and/or parcel rounds.

This new payment will apply immediately and will be back-paid to 26 March 2023.

Australia Post has assured us that their payroll team is ready to process the back-payments and that the FBA payment will be payable moving forward.

This is another great outcome secured for CWU members. If you work with somebody who isn’t yet a member, ask them to join today.

The Union will continue to engage with Australia Post in an effort to mitigate the effects of ongoing labour shortages across the delivery network.
